August: Osage County
2008 Pulitzer Prize for Drama
2008 Tony Award for Best Play
2008 Drama Desk Award for Best New Play
Presented by Howard & Karen Pape
The Gibson Theater (Downstage) / May 17 – June 8, 2013
A vanished father. A pill-popping mother. Three estranged sisters harboring shady little secrets. When the Weston clan unexpectedly reunites at the family homestead in Osage County, Oklahoma after the disappearance of their father, a maelstrom of repressed truths and unsettling confrontations breaks loose. Mix in Violet, the drugged-up, acid-tongued Weston matriarch, and you've got August: Osage County — a play that unflinchingly (and uproariously) exposes the dark side of the Midwestern American family.
Live Arts Late Night
The Gibson Theater / Saturday, June 15, 9pm
A whacked-out cabaret, a miasma of entertainment. Evening may contain: beautiful torch songs, insane political rants, short new works, sword-swallowers, interviews with vegetables, fully-staged musical numbers, puppetry, story-telling, lounge singers, clowning, belly dancers, peanuts, perhaps even something as groundbreaking as poetry or short stories read without affect.
...and YOU! Still looking for spectacular acts to join the fun!
It's Live Arts Late Night. An old/new tradition of regular one-night stands.
