Fall Acting Sessions for Adults
| September 21, 2007 Actors’ Lab: The Saturday Sessions
Sept 22 –Nov 17, 2007 (no class Nov 3)
Saturdays: 12 pm – 2:30 pm
Instructor: Ronda Hewitt
Cost: $115 Members / $125 General
Focus: Stretch Acting Technique
“Stretch work is intermediate or advanced training, focusing on expanding the actor’s range. All actors have natural strengths and weaknesses. Through highly structured non-scripted work, the teacher focuses the actor on his/her own problem areas. Through this work, over time, the weaknesses become strengths, enabling the actor to approach his/her work with more confidence and become a more well-rounded performer.” ** Ms. Hewitt studied this stretch technique with its founder, Richard Seyd, in California for 3 years. She also studied at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.
A separate exercise called the Whelan recording technique by Jeremy Whelan, will be introduced the last weeks of class. Introduced to Live Arts by John Gibson, in Spring ’07 rehearsals, it is a way of recording, then physically living the text upon replay, allowing the actor to live in the moments of the text. It is a physical form of a scene study exercise.
