History

LATTE (initially Live Arts Theater Training Ensemble in 1998 and then changed to Live Arts Teen Theater Ensemble in 2003) was established in January of 1998 to two growing needs: teen theater artists for needed a place to do diverse and challenging theater and Live Arts theater artists and the community sought a place to learn and experiment.

Through the years, LATTE has offered over 100 performance, technical, and design workshops for youth and adults and mounted over 20 productions, providing the community with more than 200 performance opportunities. LATTE continues to flourish with a strong commitment to providing productions that encourage adult and youth collaboration, with a special emphasis on providing opportunities for young voices to be heard through the creation and production of original material and by providing an ongoing educational connection to experimentation done in the Live Arts DownStage and UpStage season.

In 2003, the Live Arts educational program grew to be such an extent that two separate components of our educational offerings, L.A.T.T.E. (Live Arts Teen Theater Ensemble) and Adult Theater Laboratories, were identified.
